City of Edinburgh Pipes and Drums has been in continuous existence since 1947. The band was originally the Woolmet and Danderhall Colliery band, then became the Scottish Gas Caledonia Pipeband.

As well as playing at local events and pipe band competitions, the band has travelled as far as Indonesia and California. The band regularly plays at Celtic festivals all over Europe. The band has also performed a number of times live on stage with Runrig, accompanying on the title track of the album - The Stamping Ground.

Many of the band members are multi-instrumentalists, this has enabled the band to reach out to a wider audience with an exciting varied presentation of traditional music. The band has developed a concert style of pipe band playing with a backing band and percussion effects.

The Betty Swallocks ceilidh band has been playing at weddings, concerts and ceilidh dances since 1990. All the members are pipers and drummers in the City of Edinburgh Pipes and Drums and can double up on other instruments, including fiddle, bass, bouzouki, keyboards, small pipes and percussion.

The band was absolutely superb. We were totally amazed by their performance which exceeded all our expectations - excellent folk and brilliant musicians........
